    The main goal of the study programme is to develop competences of conducting independent research in the selected sub-branch of philology on the basis of the acquired knowledge and skills. The objectives of the programme are to ensure that students broaden and systematize the acquired knowledge about the content, methodology, major theories and current research in literature, general and applied linguistics, develop awareness of implementing theories in practice, acquire research work skills, foster generic and subject-specific competences and apply them in research work and professional practice.     Aims of the programme The BA programme in English Philology is designed for the students interested in various aspects of the English language, literature and culture. The programme aims at developing the students’ competences essential for roles in the global workforce, at the same time preparing them for independent research in their chosen fields. In the 5th semester, students specialize either in Linguistics (Language, Culture, Translation; Creative Writing, EU Institutional and Project Management Discourse, Language, Culture, Translation (Scandinavian languages), Internship in Applied Linguistics) or Literature and culture (Introduction to Visual and Film Studies, Realism in American Literature, Methodologies of Literary Research, Visual and Film Studies (Scandinavian culture).   8. French Philology- Bachelor studies

    he programme “French Philology” offers simultaneous studies of two Romanic and German languages. The goal of the programme is to prepare multi competence specialists, who have not only a good command of two Romance languages but know also the history, geography, culture, economics and politics of the respective language speaking countries. The studies of the specific areal, courses for professional purposes (translation, business language, language teaching methodology), basics of economics and law, diplomacy, politics, academic studies and research. The programme envisages students’ mobility within the framework of Erasmus in the institutions of higher learning of France, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Germany.     Aims of the programme Modern Language and Business Studies programme combines language studies with business studies and aims at preparing students for international careers in enterprises and institutions operating in the modern economic and political environment. Upon graduation from the programme, students are awarded a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities. Main study courses The language studies in the programme offer a choice between three language modules: English-French, English-Spanish and English-German. All three modules comprise studying Business English, Financial English, English for Law, as well as studying general and business aspects of the other modern language (e.g. French Language in the Modern Discourse, Business French, Business Spanish, etc.).   10. Baltic Sea Region Studies- Master studies

    Aims of the programme: This is a two year programme providing an excellent opportunity to obtain an interdisciplinary Master`s degree in Baltic Sea region issues. The programme offers education in humanities and several social and environmental disciplines, focusing on the Baltic Sea region countries. This is a joint-degree programme set up in cooperation with four partner universities: the University of Turku in Finland, the University of Tartu in Estonia, the University of Latvia and Vytautas Magnus University in Lithuania. The programmes are compatible, and this partnership enables student mobility within the programme: one semester should be taken at a partner university, without paying extra tuition fee.
