The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) is a translation tool that helps communication and comparison between qualifications systems in Europe. Its eight common European reference levels are described in terms of learning outcomes: knowledge, skills and competences. This allows any national qualifications systems, national qualifications frameworks (NQFs) and qualifications in Europe to relate to the EQF levels. Learners, graduates, providers and employers can use these levels to understand and compare qualifications awarded in different countries and by different education and training systems.

Oil and Gas Technology:The "science" of oil includes a wide variety of disciplines for the following reasons: oil, following processes of thousands of years, was created by nature and stored underground. Identification, consequently, of underground deposits is the first stage. It is followed by research of the deposit data using physicochemical processes. Drilling follows, to fully confirm the deposit, and then transfer of the oil to the surface of the earth. The range of these activities is known by the term upstream.They are followed by storage, transport, processing (refining), analyses, sales of oil and its products. These activities are termed downstream. In large countries, upstream is a different subject area of studies from downstream.
