A network of centres linking together the Careers Guidance systems in Europe euroguidance promotes mobility, helping guidance counsellors and individuals to better understand the opportunities available to European citizens throughout Europe.
The Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (IPCB) integrates public higher education with administrative, scientific and pedagogical autonomy. Its mission is to give citizens a high standard of qualification, the production and dissemination of knowledge, as well as the cultural, artistic, technological and scientific teaching of its students in an international frame of reference.
Created by the Decree-Law n. 513-T/79, 26th December, the IPCB began its activity in October 1980 with the swearing in of the first installation committee.
The IPCB pursues its mission through its six schools: School of Agriculture (ESACB), School of Arts (ESART), School of Education (ESECB), School of Management of Idanha-a-Nova (ESGIN), Dr. Lopes Dias School of Health (ESALD) and School of Technology (ESTCB).
The School of Agriculture of the Polytechnic Institute of Castelo Branco (ESACB) was founded in 1983/84. Its main objective is to prepare high-qualified technicians in the Agrarian Sciences area, scientific research, experimental development and provision of services to the regional market and the surrounding community.
The ESACB takes part in several national and international projects, scientific research and academic development. It also supports teachers and students mobility.

There are some institutions in Portugal that give scholarships to international students and it is advisable that applicants confirm every year whether these grants are available and the eligibility terms: Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation; Foundation for the Sciences and Technology; Fulbright Commission; Instituto Camões; Luso-American Development Foundation; Fundação Oriente.

The IPCB maintains 4 halls of residence to provide its students with good accommodations at affordable prices. One hall of residence is located in Idanha-a-Nova. All the rooms are equipped with closets, desks, chairs, beds, and central heating.
