Course Information

The undergraduate Programme of Studies of the School of Informatics aims at educating scientists capable of for collecting, classifying, processing and transmitting information, using, studying, designing, analyzing, implementing, deploying, monitoring, evaluating, and certifying appropriate computer hardware, software and network systems.
The School of Informatics provides to all graduates the fundamental knowledge and competencies for the effective practice of the profession of the Computer Scientist, and additionally provides to its students the opportunity to specialize by deepening their knowledge in one of the four (4) compulsory scientific tracks (directions).
In order to graduate from the School of Informatics, students are required to attend and successfully complete courses (compulsory and electives) and the undergraduate thesis (equivalent to 3 courses) within a time period which is consistent with the law. The programme of studies is structured as follows: The first five semesters include core courses that provide the student with the necessary fundamental knowledge. During the following three semesters students attend elective courses belonging to one of the four scientific tracks (4) decided at the 6th semester: (1) Information Systems, (2) Networks-Computer Architecture-Communications, (3) Digital Media-Computational Intelligence, (4) Learning Technologies. At each scientific track, students must attend the compulsory courses of each track. Furthermore, each scientific track offers a number of suggested elective courses. Students can either choose electives from the scientific track they have decided to focus on, or from the other tracks. The elective courses of the selected track determine the specialization of the student. The examination of a course is oral / written or with an assignment.
