Tourism Business Studies

Course Information

The discipline of Tourism Business Studies covers entrepreneurial approaches in the tourism and leisure industry before the background of a professionalisation of the tourism and leisure industry. Students will be trained to become entrepreneurs and managers in the domestic and international tourism and leisure industry.
The bachelor's programme lasts six semesters and includes the following subjects: Fundamentals of Economics & Law, Management & Business Administration (finance, marketing), Functional Tourism & Leisure Business (tourism & finance, tourism marketing), Management in Tourism & Leisure (hospitality management, event management, product development and innovation, alpine tourism), Strategic Business Management (controlling in tourism, intercultural management), Information Management, academic research, social and communicative skills and multilingualism. In the 5th semester students will do a 15-week work placement in an Austrian or international tourism company or tourism organisation. Selected students have the possibility to spend a semester at a partner university abroad. Students have to write two bachelor's theses.
