Upon completion of the programme the following criteria shall have been met. Students shall:
- have a general understanding of theories, premises, concepts and methods related to the primary school and primary schooling teaching,
- be familiar with the history of primary schooling, the main ideas that have shaped primary school activities, the societal role of the school and the social status of children,
- have gained an overview of the maturity and development of children and teenagers, and be familiar with the main theories of developmental psychology that shed light on these processes,
- have insight into the teaching of one age group within primary schools and can put this group in context with their own teaching subject.
