Course Information

The main objective of the Bachelor in Sports Sciences is to train graduates with immediate capacity for integration into the labor market in different areas. The specific objectives are:

  • Acquire a solid theoretical foundation, which allows an easier practical application of knowledge in different areas to promote the integration of the graduates in the labor market;
  • Provide technologycal and informational instruments in order to analyze and intervene in practical terms;
  • Aware to the national and international sports reality;
  • Ability to generate self-employment (notion of entrepreneurship);
  • Promote a degree of adaptability in order to accumulate new knowledge and tools.

The University of Évora is a public institution of higher education whose origins date back to 1559. After being closed in the 18th century, the university reopens in 1979. At the present time, it is organized in departments which are grouped in schools related to specific scientific domains, such as:

  • Arts;
  • Social Sciences;
  • Technology Sciences;
  • Health.

Have successfully completed secondary school or have an equivalent qualification

Have completed one of the following university entrance exams (central exams prepared by the Ministry of Education and Science): Biology and Geology; or Mathematics; or Portuguese Language

Prerequisites: Functional fitness and physical Medical certificate stating that you meet the prerequisite, to be delivered at the time of registration and enrollment

Admission Procedure: 

Applications are done through the national admission contest (concurso nacional de acesso) organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education (DGES), or through special higher education contests. For more information please check DGES website (in Portuguese).


The Social Services award scholarships to students who are financially challenged. Fresher students should apply for scholarships within 30 days after the first day of registration. For the remaining students, the application deadline is annually set by the Academic Services. For more information. The university’s Social Services provide 528 beds in 7 halls of residence  all over the city within easy and fast access to the university buildings. At present, the farthest residence is about 30 minutes away on foot. Request for accommodation in halls of residence should be submitted to the Social Services.
