Qualification Information

Graduates will be familiar with contemporary achievements in those fields of mathematics relating to the teaching of mathematics in secondary schools, and with contemporary methods of teaching mathematics.

Third-cycle doctoral study programmes (SQF level 10)

Examination performance is scored as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

  • A completed academic study programme in mathematics with a programme that enables the candidate to pursue this form of study,
  • an average grade of at least 8 in an undergraduate programme,

Candidates who do not meet these conditions must pass an entrance examination, the content and scope of which are determined individually on the basis of the candidate's previous study.

Students must pass examinations in all subjects of this programme in which they have attended lectures (75 credits), write two seminar papers during the programme (15 credits) and defend them at seminars, and write a master's thesis (30 credits). Graduates of this programme must complete the programme by the 30.9.2016.
