Course Information

1.1. The Postgraduate program of the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment aims in scientific knowledge promotion and the fulfillment of educational research and development needs.
The Postgraduate program of the Department of Forestry and Nature Environment aims to:
a. Promote knowledge in all the following subjects.
b. Promote Forestry research in order to develop new technologies and support Foresters – Environmentalists and all other scientists working in these sections. All the above will have a direct impact on improving the quality of forest products and services, the proper management of natural resources and the protection of the natural environment.
c. Meet the needs in specialist scientists (e.g. staff for the public or private sector, educational institutions, international organizations, etc.
d. Specialized training of foreign scientists.
1.2. The Postgraduate program of the Department of Forestry and Natural Environment provides students with principles, knowledge and methods in order to create skilled scientists with new and deep knowledge suitable for immediate field application and able to pass these knowledge to future generations.
1.3. The Postgraduate program includes the following five orientations:
a) Forest Production – Forest Protection and Natural Environment. wιτh the subjects:
General and Forest Ecology, Silviculture, Soil Science, Forest Genetics and Forest Tree Improvement, Forest Protection, Forest Botany and Geobotany, Protection of Nature and Landscape Architecture.
b) Range Science- Wildlife and Fresh Water Fisheries. with the subjects: Ecology and Range Management, Rangeland Ecology, Wildlife and Fresh Water Fisheries
c) Planning and Development of Natural Resources, with the subjects: Forest Biometry, Forest Management, Forest Policy, Forest Economics, Forest Remote Sensing, Forest Policy.
d) Forest and Water Engineering, with the subjects: Fresh Water Management, Hydrologic Management of River Basins, Forest Construction, Forest Road Construction and Transport, Topography
e) Harvesting and Technology of Forest Products, with the subjects: Harvesting of Forest Products. Structure and Properties of Wood. Chemical and Mechanical Wood and Wood Products Processing, Operation of Wood Industries.

The qualification can be accessed by people having graduated from tertiary education (level 6)

Admission Procedure: 

The selection of students is mainly taking into account the following: overall GPA, grades in undergraduate courses on the subjects of the postgraduate program, performance in thesis, where applicable, and any candidate's research activity and / or entrance examination. The rules implementing the selection criteria and / or the conduct of examinations set by decision of each department
