Qualification Information

Students after graduation:Knowledge:- have specialized knowledge of the objects of positive, applied, technological, social, humanities and theoretical sciences which are taught in school and which include all scientific courses that support in terms of knowledge the theoretical and practical fire-officer training / training for crisis management.- have theoretical, technical and practical knowledge and skills as well as practice and implementation of fire-officer - crisis management science and technology, within the operational environment.- can recognize the parts and rules of handling all fire-fighting appliances and equipment used by the Fire Brigade.
Skills-Capacities:- Develop and improve the skill in the use of fire extinguishing equipment, vehicles, tools and instruments;- Create a spirit of trust in superiors, colleagues, and in the skills of firefighters themselves;- Maintain and improve their physical condition so that firefighters can respond to difficult and strenuous physical work, consolidate conscious discipline, forge teamwork spirit and fraternal solidarity;- Perform investigative tasks within the competences of the Fire Brigade (e.g. crime of arson etc.);- Use all firefighting resources and means, in accordance with applicable legislation;- Respond to crisis situations and manage them according to their functions;- Communicate with the public, having regard to the protection of society.

Successful graduates Firefighters of the Hellenic F. B.  Fire Officers School are investigators who evolve up to the grade of Fire Officer to fill existing vacant positions.The following Cycles of Studies are available in the Hellenic Fire Officers School, along with the various specialisations / subjects:
A. The theoretical-vocational education. Specifically, this training includes the following basic courses:• Fire-extinguishing art / fire-extinguishing tactic (urban fires, forest fires, fires of vessels and aircrafts, fires in industrial plants, rescues from traffic accidents, rescues from natural and man-made disasters, etc.)• Fire-extinguishing legislation - Public Administration legislation• Civil protection and civil defence (Crisis management in peacetime and wartime in relation to the mission of the F.B., Institutional Framework of Institutions, Services and Civil Protection implementing measures, volunteering, local government and Civil Protection best practices, etc.)• Fire safety - fire protection (fire safety legislation, fire protection systems)• Law (Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Administrative-Civil Law)• Engineering and Fluid Dynamics (General Engineering of vehicles and all types of means of transport-machinery, pumps, engines, dynamics and fire engines technology, design and manufacture of fire-fighting vehicles, inspection and repair of fire trucks structure, fire vehicle maintenance principles, fluid mechanics, etc.)• Positive and Applied Construction Sciences, Applied Mathematics, Theory and Strength of Materials, Physical chemistry, Materials Modelling and Simulation of Behaviour of Materials, Materials Resistance to Fire, Combustion and Explosion Theory, Fire Suppressant materials, Flammable materials, Catalysts and contaminants, Physics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transmission Heat Transfer phenomena, heating - cooling - air conditioning, production, dissemination and detection of thermal radiation, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, applications in civil protection, protection measures etc.)• Building design, topography, cartography, construction, building materials, actions on structures, hydraulics, water supply - sanitation, repair - troubleshooting, environmental protection, staff health and safety, etc.)• Electrical Engineering (Electrical-Technical Installations, Maintenance of fire-fighting Mechanical equipment, Fire Fighting vehicles Technology, air conditioning, heat and mass transfer, hobs and ovens, etc.)• General education (IT, Foreign Languages, Political and Diplomatic History of Modern Greece, Public Relations - Interpersonal Relations - Communication, Psychology, mob psychology, sociology, gender equality, human rights - non-governmental organizations, fire history, modern European history etc.• Use & operation of fire-fighting - salvage equipment.
B. The fire-crisis management training includes the following main sections:• Exercises Regulation• Simulations of fire-fighting art -tactics• Driving of firefighting vehicles; Operation of Fire extinguishing equipment• Usage - maintenance of firefighting equipment• Health and labour safety at enterprises, first aid• Fire-fighting dressage - physical education

Access requirements: 

Holders of qualifications of GENERAL UPPER SECONDARY SCHOOL CERTIFICATE (LYKEIO), VOCATIONAL UPPER SECONDARY SCHOOL CERTIFICATE ( EPAL) have access to programmes in the Anoteres Schools. Some programmes accept students on the basis of specific talent or achievement (e.g. in artistic fields).
Holders of POST SECONDARY AND NOT HIGHER EDUCATION DIPLOMA OR ‘DEGREE’ may access a range of Higher Education programmes leading to qualifications at Level 6 or higher.
