Geosciences and engineering are of daily importance in order to meet our society's demands. The search for energy, mitigating climate change, and developing relevant technology to improve the well-being of people around the world are challenges that professionals need to be prepared to confront. The University of Stavanger is at the forefront of petroleum engineering and geosciences education. The MSc programme in Petroleum Geosciences Engineering, which is developed in close collaboration with the petroleum industry, is uniquely focused on the blending of geosciences and engineering for the specific needs of petroleum exploration and production.

A graduate of this program will be qualified for a broad range of positions within the petroleum industry and other industries where both engineering and geosciences are applied.

Access requirements: 

A Bachelor's degree in Geosciences or equivalent is required.

Applicants with a Bachelr's degree in geology and/or engineering degrees will also be considered if they document at least 40 ECTS credits in geosciences/geology/geophysics.

All applicants must have at least 30 ECTS credits in mathematics/statistics/calculus.
