Objective(s) of a study programme:
The main aim of the study programme is to prepare highly-qualified bachelors of linguistics with interdisciplinary competence and fundamental knowledge of linguistics, new media language and its usage skills able to relate and integrate the two fields of linguistics and new media.
The main aim is realised through the following partial aims:
1. To provide fundamental and complex knowledge of linguistics forming the system of abilities allowing a specialist to control and manage language in the new media context;
2. To provide deep knowledge of new media necessary for the use and analysis of new media language;
3. To provide knowledge and abilities allowing application of theoretical knowledge in practical use and analysis, critical evaluation and creative interpretation of new media language;
4. To provide deep competences of language activity necessary for the use, creation and analysis of new media language.
Knowledge and its application:
Know and understand the main theories of linguistics, are able to generalise, integrate and creatively apply linguistic knowledge in the context of new media;
Know and understand principles and research methods of applied linguistics;
Know and understand theoretical models and principles of phonology, grammar, lexicology and semantics;
Know and understand principles of text structure, discourse models, and registers;
Know and understand principles and contexts of public speaking;
Know and understand contemporary media theories, elements of new media culture, media power, social control and virtual communities;
Know and understand new media language, hypertext, popular, visual and digital culture;
Know and understand principles of information preparation for digital media.
Are able to scientifically analyse linguistic research material, practically apply research methods and interpret data;
Are able to interpret research results in a broader linguistic and media context.
Are able to systematically and critically analyse, evaluate and creatively interpret texts on various levels and from different perspectives in the context of new media;
Are able to create creative, academic, technical and professional texts of different genre, edit them and prepare for publication;
Are able to analyse and evaluate processes of new media culture on national and international levels;
Are able to recognise existing new media models, explain their context, independently identify practical new media language-related problems and solve them;
Are able to edit, convert and create audiovisual multimedia material.
Are able to plan time given for task performance, work individually and in groups;
Are able to clearly and fluently render oral and written information in two foreign languages;
Are able to communicate professionally, discuss, justify their opinion, be tolerant to the opinion of others, constructively criticise and accept criticism;
Are able to work in an interdisciplinary team, generate new ideas and integrate knowledge.
Are able to apply information technologies in task performance;
Are able to find and select appropriate information sources and methods of information gathering, structuring and analysis;

Activities of Teaching and Learning:
