A network of centres linking together the Careers Guidance systems in Europe euroguidance promotes mobility, helping guidance counsellors and individuals to better understand the opportunities available to European citizens throughout Europe.
The profile of the programme comprises the development of the technical-scientific knowledge and professional skills in the study areas of Music – Instrument, Branch Piano.
The Polytechnic Institute of Porto (IPP) was created in 1985 in order to offer excellence in qualified education.
IPP is the largest Portuguese Polytechnic Institution, with the most students, teachers, courses and schools. The outcome is a highly diversified offer of training profiles, contexts, targets, extension activities and geographic implementation – in six Municipalities of the Porto District.

The School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE) was created from the School of Music, established in 1985, following a tradition of music education in the city of Porto.
ESMAE was born with the aim of extending training to Theatre and Dance in order to meet the need for local development.
ESMAE pays particular attention to activities in connection with the outer world which are essential to fulfill the objectives of the courses and fosters a close and constant contact between young actors and musicians and their future audience, thus, allowing for an enriching experience for all future professionals in the performing arts.

Have successfully completed secondary school or have an equivalent qualification
Have completed one of the following university entrance exams (central exams prepared by the Ministry of Education and Science): History of Arts and Culture; or English Language; or Portuguese Literature; or Mathematics; or Portuguese Language
Applications are done through the national admission contest (concurso nacional de acesso) organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education (DGES), or through special higher education contests.
There are some institutions in Portugal that give scholarships to international students and it is advisable that applicants confirm every year whether these grants are available and the eligibility terms: Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation; Foundation for the Sciences and Technology; Fulbright Commission; Instituto Camões; Luso-American Development Foundation; Fundação Oriente.

The graduates in Music – Instrument, Branch Piano will be capable of:
- extensive knowledge of the instruments of the percussion family;
- knowledge of the orchestral role of the percussionist;
- a deep understanding of chamber music in its various aspects and an ability to collaborate musically;
- the development of a contemporary solo repertoire on those instruments most frequently encountered within this musical contest knowledge, for example: Marimba, Vibraphone, Multi-Percussion, Timpani and Steel Drum.
The Polytechnic of Porto provides assistance to international students in finding accommodation. Students may be lodged in Halls of Residence depending on yearly availability.
There are other forms of accommodation options available throughout the city, at very affordable prices. Students may opt to choose a room in a family home or rent an apartment with other students.
Schools International Offices are also involved in the accommodation process and help students finding private accommodation in the vicinity of the Schools.
