Course Information

Objective(s) of a study programme:

To analyse particularity of a company, information systems used by the company, to submit proposals for improving company efficiency;
To install and apply computer hardware and software for company activities using advanced information technology;
To integrate information technology systems into the company activities.
Objective of specialisation Projection, Installation and Maintenance of Computer Networks.
To project and maintain computer networks and configure network operating systems;
Objective of specialisation Workgroup System.:
To plan, configure and administer workgroup devices.
Learning outcomes:

The graduate will:
Communicate and cooperate, think analytically when solving problems, improving study skills, adapting to constant changes in the sphere of professional activities.
Know and apply methods of calculus, physical phenomena and quantitative expression of the phenomena.
Know and understand the ways of projection, programming, installation and protection of computer networks and information systems.
Administer information management systems and use information protection tools.
Analyse information systems of the company and assess the needs for computer services in the company.
Install and apply information systems in company activities.
Organise work process in companies providing computer services following work laws and work safety requirements.
Perform installation and maintenance of computer hardware and software.
Learning outcomes of specialisation Projection, Installation and Maintenance of Computer Networks:
The graduate will project, install and administer computer networks.
The graduate will install and configure network operating systems.
Learning outcomes of specialisation Workgroup Systems:
The graduate will project workgroup systems.
The graduate will install and administer computer workgroup systems.
Activities of teaching and learning:

Methods of acquiring basic and new knowledge (lecture, lecture-discussion, laboratory works, consultations, group work) are applied to achieve the outcomes of conceptual basics; methods of computer practice, practical training, development of new systems, consultations, problem teaching, group work are applied to achieve the outcomes of study analysis, projection and implementation; project works, public presentation of work results (team and individual), consultations are carried out to achieve the learning outcomes of technological and methodical competencies; to achieve the learning outcomes of professional competence practical training at College and companies, project work and applied research are carried out.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Assessment is carried out during the whole semester and examination session. Ten-grade criterion-based assessment system and accumulative assessment is applied. Semester study results are assessed during current assessments (tests, written assignments, exams (theoretical and practical tasks), defence of laboratory and individual works, etc. The studies of every subject end with examination or assessment of the student’s self-study work (project, course paper, evaluation of practical activities, etc.). Students’ knowledge and competencies are assessed during the exam session only if the student has carried out all the current assessment tasks during the semester. Current assessments and examination grades comprise final assessment. The proportions are provided in the course programmes.
Framework:
Study subjects (modules), practical training:

The scope of the study subjects of the main field is 138 credits (with practice).
Main subjects studied: Database Management, Basics of Programming, Computer Hardware, Management of Operating Systems, Internet Technologies, Computer Networks and Telecommunications, Object-Oriented Programming, Management of Information Systems.
Practice of professional activities: IT and Computer Projection, Computer Maintenance, IT Technologies and Programming, Information Systems, Pre-Graduation Practice. The duration of practices of professional activities - 20 weeks.

Optional courses:

May choose a specialisation (18 credits). 9 credits are intended for optional subjects. The students can freely choose from the subjects offered by the College or participate in mobility projects.
