1.1. The student has acquired a basic knowledge of the Icelandic language system
1.2. The student can explain and catagorize the main grammatical concepts
 
2. Skills
2.1. The student is able to understand discussions in Icelandic on basic issues relating to daily life
2.2. The student is able to express her- or himself in Icelandic on basic issues relating to daily life
2.3. The student is able to read and understand simple texts in Icelandic without much difficulty
2.4. The student is able to write simple texts in Icelandic about everyday topics
 
3. Ability
3.1. The student has developed the basic academic ability for studying and working independently to undertake further study
