Course Information

Knowledge
After completing the studies, the student shall:

  • Be able to demonstrate a general understanding of the theories, premises, concepts and methods of general applied sciences, including those of mathematics, physics and chemistry,
  • Be able to demonstrate a general understanding of the theories, premises, concepts and methods of disciplines relating to business administration and commerce, including economics, finance and management.
  • Be able to demonstrate that they have attained a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the latest discoveries within their chosen field in fisheries science.
  • Be able to demonstrate a systematic knowledge and understanding of the theories, premises, concepts and methods which relate to the production chain of the fishing industry from the environment where the marine species is caught or cultivated until it has
  • Be able to explain the mutual interaction of man and ocean, and be able to explain the impact of the environment – as well as economic factors – on the fishing industry and how such knowledge is applied to manage projects within the fishing industry.
  • Be able to apply basic methods in search- and information technology

Skills
After completing the studies, the student shall:

  • Be able to set his/her own goals in project work, define a work plan and follow it.
  • Be able to demonstrate skills in general laboratory work procedures and on field trips where data is collected.
  • Be able to apply the methodology of finance as well as empirical science to manage practical projects in the field of fisheries science. Subsequently the student shall be able to take practical decisions and justify them based on the professional data ana
  • Be able to apply scientific criticism to his/her own works and those of others in his/her field of specialization and explain the importance of precision and uncertainty in the collection, recording and analysis of data.
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills in the use of software and technology for processing.

Competences
After completing the studies, the student shall:

  • Be able to apply his/her knowledge and understanding in academic work and possess the ability to present arguments in support of both academic and applied solutions to problems relating to the fishing industry.
  • Be able to interpret and present research conclusions within his/her field of specialisation and communicate their experiences, ideas and knowledge to partners, peers and the public in a professional way.
  • Have the ability to actively participate in cooperation where the partners can be expected to use different approaches to issues relating to their fields of specialization.
  • Have demonstrated the necessary academic ability, independence in his/her working methods, open and innovative thinking to be able to cope with challenging work and further study within their field of specialisation.
