Qualification Information

Upon completion of the programme the student shall be able to demonstrate knowledge, abilities and skills as follows.

Knowledge

  • The student has comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the discipline of economics and finance.
  • The student has good understanding of how to apply the latest economic and financial knowledge and research to problem solving in economics.
  • The student has good knowledge and understanding of the main research methods utilized in economics and finance.
  • The student has good understanding of stock options, derivatives and other financial instruments used in the international financial markets.
  • The student has gained skills in asset valuation and has good knowledge and understanding of the workings of financial markets.

Skills

  • The student is able to present a coherent and independent analysis of financial markets and the economy.
  • The student knows how to find, select and retrieve information through the use of the relevant sources, including libraries and online data banks.
  • The student can present ideas on theoretical and practical issues in a structured and critical manner.
  • The student can present in writing the latest ideas and developments in the discipline of economics and finance.
  • The student is able to apply economic theory and concepts to the analysis of financial markets, asset valuation and economic development.
  • The student can apply statistical research methods to conduct quantitative research and report the key findings.
  • The student is able to present his or her work efficiently, using the appropriate academic language.

Competence

  • The student is able to demonstrate an analytical and critical approach to subjects in economics and finance and to reach sound conclusions.
  • The student is able to critically assess the results of different economic theories.
  • The student has the understanding and ability to create most common financial instruments.
