This is a Bachelor that intents to develop an overview of the environmental problems, covering technological, ecological and socioeconomic aspects. Furthermore, it is intended that the way these contents are taught can fill in the demands of the entrepreneurial framework, not only referring to the industrial domains, as consultancy/projects, central and local administration, but also, to laboratorial and investigation activities. In few words, students will be qualified for waste management, environmental upgrading, ecological impact studies, planning on natural spaces, environmental monitoring, information systems, education and information in the ecological area, among other aspects on the Environmental level.

The University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), based in Vila Real, is an institution of high level oriented towards the creation and dissemination of culture, knowledge and science by merging teaching, scientific research and experimental development. Within the current framework of innovation, the Schools and Research Centres develop scientific activity that seeks to deepen knowledge and develop technology capable of addressing issues of global, national or regional scope.

UTAD offers a wide assortment of study programmes ranging from graduation to masters and doctorates within different study areas distributed by 5 schools: Agrarian and Veterinary Sciences, Human and Social Sciences, Sciences and Technology, Life and Environment Sciences and Vila Real Higher Education Nursing School.

Access requirements: 

Have successfully completed secondary school or have an equivalent qualification

Have completed one of the following university entrance exams (central exams prepared by the Ministry of Education and Science): Biology and Geology, and Mathematics; or Physics and Chemistry, and Mathematics

Admission Procedure: 

Applications are done through the national admission contest (concurso nacional de acesso) organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education (DGES), or through special higher education contests. International Student Applications.

Grants: 

There are some institutions in Portugal that give scholarships to international students and it is advisable that applicants confirm every year whether these grants are available and the eligibility terms: Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation; Foundation for the Sciences and Technology; Fulbright Commission; Instituto Camões; Luso-American Development Foundation; Fundação Oriente.
