Engineering of Environmental Protection

Course Information

Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare a Professional Bachelor in Environmental Engineering who is able to apply the newest environmental protection technologies and preventative means, analyze and creatively apply acquired knowledge and constantly learn in the conditions of knowledge based society.
Learning outcomes:
A graduate will be able to:
1. Analyse polluting substances in the air and air pollution sources, surface and underground water, wastewater, soil and impact of pollution on the environment.
2. Analyse the sources of waste generation, waste sorting, collection systems, processing techniques and equipment.
3. Establish the environmental aspects of economic activity.
4. Select an effective technological equipment environmentally, ensure the best available techniques for the implementation of.
5. Apply the methods and technologies that are designed to reduce air, wastewater, soil pollution and waste generation.
6. Plan environmental measures of economic activity in accordance with sustainable development principles.
7. Manage environmental information and prepare documents.
8. Inform the public on environmental issues.
Activities of teaching and learning:
Interactive lectures, practical works, discussions, case studies, literary analysis, project development and so on.
Methods of assessment of learning achievements:
Studied subjects are completed by an Exam or Project work. The assessment of learning achievements is carried out during the semester and during the exam session. Results of study subjects are evaluated with interim settlements when the cumulative assessment is applied. Interim evaluation is carried out assessing student‘s performed tasks or knowledge and skills acquired through completion of a particular subject of study (tests, practical work, etc.).
Student knowledge and skills are evaluated on a scale from 1 to 10 during the examination. The final evaluation consists of interim settlement and exam or project work evaluations. The final evaluation is calculated by proportion that are provided at the module subject description.
