EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT (UPRAVLjANјE VANREDNIM SITUACIJAMA) is an one-year Master programme (60ECTS) of academic studies offered by the Faculty of Occupational Safety in Niš.

The primary objective of the study programme is to enable students to apply scientific achievements in solving problems regarding safety, health protection, material possessions, natural values, as well as in developing emergency management systems.

Special objectives of the study programme are achieved through gaining necessary knowledge and skills for:

  • Risk and emergency management analysis,
  • Analysis of cause-and-effect relations and resolving the issue of safety,health protection, material possessions and natural values during emergencies,
  • eveloping methodology and methods for emergency management,
  • Developing strategies, projecting and managing emergency safety systems,
  • Innovative activities and team work in emergency management,
  • Permanent education and development of a knowledge system for emergency management.

On completion of the study programme, the student becomes professionally competent for:

  • Anthropogenic risk assessment,
  • Making accident studies,
  • Devising and updating operational and tactical plans for protection and rescue,
  • Optimizing and managing available emergency resources,
  • Accident expertise,
  • Creating reports on safety conditions,
  • PR,
  • Developing metrics and methods to evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of emergency management systems,
  • Organizing and taking charge of interventions, rescue, evacuation, and sanation,
  • Training, professional selection and development of emergency intervention skills,
  • Teaching and managing emergency knowledge base,
  • Developing methods and methodologies for accident management,
  • Devising strategies for emergency management,
Access requirements: 

As a general requirement, for Master programmes lasting two years with 120 ECTS a candidate has to have obtained a Bachelor diploma with 180 ECTS points (or 240 ECTS for one-year programmes).
Specific admission prerequisites usually entail specific knowledge in certain disciplines and should be checked at the institution’s website for each individual programme a student is interested in.
