Qualification Information

Students will be able to:

  • demonstrate mastery of research methodology and carry out independent research,

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

In order to complete the programme, students must complete 180 credits, i.e. pass all examinations (30 credits), complete the individual research prescribed by the programme (90 credits), complete research seminar units (30 credits) and successfully defend a doctoral dissertation (30 credits).

  • A completed second-cycle study programme; or
  • a completed former study programme to obtain an academic higher education qualification; or
  • a completed integrated master's programme lasting five years and carrying 300 credits; or
  • a completed former study programme leading to a specialisation, if candidates have already completed a professional higher education programme and additional course units ranging from 30 to 60 credits.
