Qualification Information

Students will be able to:

(general competences)

  • effectively and successfully apply acquired knowledge,
  • find resources and complete the most complex artistic tasks,
  • demonstrate understanding of issues in art and artistic creativity,
  • compare different findings and interpret them holistically,
  • integrate results with various theories and technical artistic concepts,
  • show critical and self-critical judgement and responsibility,
  • show initiative and boldness in autonomous creative work and in work within a broad range of art professions,

(subject-specific competences)

  • draw and paint creatively,
  • draw and paint freehand and use various technologies and tools,
  • construct an artistic space and demonstrate mastery of it, and of different models from a historical period of artistic creativity, various descriptive and perspective styles, colour studies, anatomy and theoretical knowledge,
  • express the ideas and concepts demonstrated by own work which is presented to the public,
  • demonstrate understanding of own role in art culture.

Students complete their studies when they have completed all course units prescribed by the programme, completed 240 credits and passed the diploma examination (prepared, presented and defended diploma works and a diploma thesis).

Examination performance is graded as follows: 10 (excellent); 9 (very good: above-average knowledge but with some mistakes); 8 (very good: solid results); 7 (good); 6 (adequate: knowledge satisfies minimum criteria); 5–1 (inadequate). In order to pass an examination, a candidate must achieve a grade between adequate (6) and excellent (10).

  • Matura or
  • vocational matura; or
  • school-leaving examination (prior to 1 June 1995) under any four-year secondary school programme.

Prospective students who have completed secondary school but who do not meet the above conditions because the requirements for completing four-year secondary school at the time did not include a school-leaving examination, vocational matura or matura shall also be eligible for admission.

Prospective students who do not meet all of the above conditions but who show outstanding artistic talent shall also be eligible for admission.
