Qualification Information

Learning outcomes are formulated in accordance with the relevant occupational standard and the strategic objectives of educational programmes outlined in the state standard of first level professional higher education. Competences:

  1. The knowledge necessary for performance of the basic tasks of the professional activity at the level of notion about the project management.
    2. The knowledge necessary for performance of the basic tasks of the professional activity at the level of understanding:
    2.1. mathematics;
    2.2. economics and business;
    2.3. programming;
    2.4. ergonomics;
    2.5. business information exchange;
    2.6. introduction information technology industry laws and regulations;
    2.7. electrical engineering and electronics;
    2.8. professional terms in the official language and at least two foreign languages.
    3. The knowledge necessary for performance of the basic tasks of the professional activity at the level  of use:
    3.1. information technology industry standards;
    3.2. classification and use of operating systems;
    3.3. classification and use of applications;
    3.4. computer system architecture and computer architecture;
    3.5. network operating systems;
    3.6. computer networks;
    3.7. database technologies;
    3.8. web technologies;
    3.9. peripherals;
    3.10. business communication and professional ethics;
    3.11. official language;
    3.12. ability to communicate in two foreign languages;
    3.13. legal employment relationship;
    3.14. labour and civil protection;
    3.15. environmental protection;
    3.16. record-keeping.



Skills:

1. Possess thorough knowledge and comply with European Union laws, laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia related to information technology issues.
2. Apply information technology industry standards and technical documentation.
3. Use professional terminology in the officiallanguage and at least two foreign languages.
4. Use operating systems.
5. Use text and graphics editors, spreadsheet editors and other office application software.
6. Use anti-virus software.
7. Use a firewall.
8. Use diagnostic software.
9. Use software updates.
10. Use peripherals.
11. Use a variety of media.
12. Use database technologies.
13. Use script writing programs.
14. Configure workplace and tools.
15. Use necessary measuring instruments for minor hardware repairs.
16. Choose adequate solutions to complete assignments.
17. Carry out data protection and security measures.
18. Perform software testing.
19. Stay updated on the latest developments in information technology industry.
20. Work in a team and independently.
21. Plan and prioritize assignments.
22. Use information search engines and selection tools.
23. Draw up documentation in accordance with the requirements of the record keeping laws and regulations.
24. Prepare presentation materials and training sessions; conduct training sessions.
25. Possess persuasion and argument skills.
26. Comply with occupational health and safety, fire safety and ergonomic requirements.
27. Comply with civil protection requirements.
28. Comply with environmental protection requirements.
29. Adhere to the principles and norms of professional ethics.
30. Adhere to the principles of business communication.
31. Communicate locally and internationally in accordance with the organization's internal procedures and business communication standards.
32. Be able to resolve problem situations.
33. Ensure efficient use of business resources.
34. Stay updated on the latest economic developments in Latvia and globally.
35. Communicate fluently in the official language.
36. Communicate fluently in at least two foreign languages.
37. Comply with employment laws and regulations.
38. Take responsibility for the results of his/her professional performance.
