Qualification Information

Learning outcomes are formulated in accordance with the relevant occupational standard and the strategic objectives of educational programmes outlined in the state standard of first level professional higher education. Competences:

1. The knowledge necessary for performance of the basic tasks of the professional activity at the level of notion:
1.1. higher mathematics;
1.2. construction chemistry;
1.3. thermal construction physics;
1.4. structural analysis;
1.5. strength of materials;
1.6. building utilities;
1.7. electrical safety;
1.8. basics of law;
1.9. basics of sociology.
2. The knowledge necessary for performance of the basic tasks of the professional activity at the level of understanding:
2.1. basic principles of spatial design;
2.2. basic principles of architecture and interior design, renovation and restoration of buildings;
2.3. basic principles of spatial planning and urban construction;
2.4. history of architecture, urban construction and art, modern architecture;
2.5. typology of buildings, parts of buildings;
2.6. outdoor site furnishings;
2.7. composition;
2.8. basic principles of universal design;
2.9. building materials / materials science of architecture;
2.10. building constructions (concrete, stone, metal, wooden constructions and synthetic constructions);
2.11. construction laws and regulations;
2.12. geodesy;
2.13. engineering geology;
2.14. construction technology and organization;
2.15. fire safety;
2.16. civil protection;
2.17. professional terms in the official language and at least two foreign languages.
3. The knowledge necessary for performance of the basic tasks of the professional activity at the level of use:
3.1. descriptive geometry, drawing;
3.2. constructions of buildings, structures and their assemblies;
3.3. structural strength and stability of buildings;
3.4. fine arts, color and style science;
3.5. layout design, computing skills and computer-based design tools;
3.6. economics and business, construction costs;
3.7. professional communication and communication psychology;
3.8. ecology and environmental protection;
3.9. information technologies;
3.10. legal employment relationship;
3.11. labour protection;
3.12. official language;
3.13. ability to communicate in at least two foreign languages.



Skills:

1. To read, understand, design and under the supervision of the lead architectcomplete  architectural drawings and the related visual materials through a targeted use of professional software and other technical means.
2. To collect, analyse and use the information necessary for designing.
3. To apply the requirements of the construction standards of the Republic of Latvia by taking into account the specifics of the particular project, as well as purposefully select the most appropriate building materials, construction equipment and finishing systems.
4. To evaluate suitability of the designed building constructions and utilities for the architectural and spatial idea of the particular project.
5. To calculate the construction costs, evaluate the economic factors, carry out comparative analysis and select the most appropriate option.
6. To applyse basic standardization principles to optimise the design solutions.
7. To evaluate critically his/her professional performance and qualification and improve them.
8. To communicate fluently in the official language.
9. To use professional terminology in the official language and at least two foreign languages.
10. To communicate in at least two foreign languages.
11. To understand and apply universal design principles.



Knowledge:
