Objective(s) of a study programme:
To prepare specialists of high qualification in visualisation of cultural heritage who will be able to appreciate and assess material and non-material cultural heritage as a distinctive feature of region identity in the context of global world as well as communicate and cooperate with Lithuanian and foreign scientists.
To develop competences and skills to effectively administrate the resources of material and non-material heritage; to carry out scientific research and use the results of the research in visualisation of cultural heritage disclosing the Baltic-Germanic influence to the culture of the region; to innovatively use the knowledge gained in the infrastructure of cultural tourism and communicate it to the public in Lithuania, foreign tourists and experts revealing the cultural Baltic-Germanic heritage, oral and written works, customs and traditions, architecture and marine environment.
1. Knowledge, application of knowledge
a. Fundamental knowledge and knowledge based on interdisciplinary applied research on the concept of Baltic-Germanic heritage in social and geocultural context. The ability to apply the knowledge gained in assessing the new concepts of cultural heritage and their significance in the modern world.
b. The ability to use the knowledge gained in scientific research dealing with basic issues of marine cultural heritage, region development and architectural environment. The ability to see the interaction between heritage and other scientific fields and the ability to interpret, analyze, provide arguments and assess cultural heritage as the expression of national identity in global situations.
2. Ability to carry out research
a. The ability to analyze, generalize and assess significant cultural heritage research data in study, research and professional activity as well as activity related to implementation of innovative aspects.
b. The ability to integrate knowledge, manage complicated situations, take decisions, in the absence of detailed and thorough information assess alternative decisions and their effect for the development of the historical heritage and landscape values of the region.
3. Special skills
a. The ability to relate the knowledge gained to cultural heritage of the region visualizing and adapting it to the tourist infrastructure.
b. The ability to reveal in scientific research the specific features of multicultural heritage and cultural identity of the region that was formed on the basis of Baltic and Germanic cultures.
4. Social skills
a. The ability to provide arguments and critically assess the issues of cultural heritage, which appear in the context of geocultural and national identity, and convey them to experts and interested audience.
b. The ability to follow the principles of professional ethics and public spirit and the ability to take responsibility for the quality, assessment and improvement of work of subordinate employees.
5. Personal skills
a. Develop the competence of learning to learn, i.e. the ability to individually plan the learning process, choose the direction of improvement and individual education.
b. Develop the competence of entrepreneurship, i.e. the ability to plan, organize and implement innovative social, cultural and commercial projects in cooperation with Lithuanian and foreign partners.
c. Develop the sense of moral responsibility for personal activities, the results achieved and their effect on social, economic and cultural development of the society, the wellbeing and the environment.
