Course Information

Objective(s) of a study programme:
Study programme of Construction is aimed at preparing a professional of Construction having the knowledge how to develop technological solutions of construction, make modern engineering calculations and solve tasks in a scientific manner, being able to define independently and solve in practice non-standard tasks of building technology, apply the most recent methods of calculation, determine the effectiveness of technological solutions of construction, design and construct buildings compliant with safety, environmental, quality and efficiency requirements, having specific knowledge and skills for the selected alternative: building structures, building materials, building processes technology
Learning outcomes:
Knowledge and understanding:
Knowledge and understanding of regulatory acts of Construction law.
Knowledge of modern methods of engineering calculations and scientific justification when preparing Construction solutions.
Knowledge of special computer programs for solving Construction tasks.
Knowledge and understanding of the theory of effectiveness of Construction solutions.
Knowledge and understanding of the methodology for the construction project management.
Knowledge of how to define and solve in practice construction tasks taking into account the conditions and requirements provided.
Knowledge and understanding of how to design building structures, technologies of building materials and products, construction processes by applying the most recent methods of calculation and optimization.
Knowledge and understanding of how to design and construct buildings compliant with safety, environmental, quality and efficiency requirements.
Engineering analysis:
The ability to use knowledge and understanding for the identification, formulation and handling of problems in the field of building technology in the area of technologies through the application of known calculation and analysis methods.
The ability to recognise and analyse new construction tasks, prepare possible alternative solutions for these tasks through the application of the theoretical knowledge of construction and related scientific areas.
The ability to understand new and significant problems of construction research, development and practical activities, explain multifaceted solutions of construction by taking into account the costs, benefits, security, quality, reliability and impact on the environment.
Engineering design:
Knowledge of design methodologies and having skills of their application. The ability to independently perform design works, head construction works and the production of building products from the formulation of a construction task or problem to the evaluation of results.
Knowledge of methods of designing structures, production of building products or building technology, the ability to collect and evaluate necessary data and complete tasks of design in compliance with special requirements defined in legal documents, as well as to plan operational conditions and evaluate environmental and economic aspects.
The ability to use knowledge and understanding for the completion of design tasks in the field of technologies in compliance with special requirements defined in legal documents and in cooperation with engineers of other fields and non-engineering specialists.
Research:
The ability to independently search for literature, collect and process data by using databases and other sources of information. Creative application of classical research and analysis methods intended for solving engineering problems.
The ability to select and apply adequate analytical and computer calculation methods by taking into account the aspects of optimising solutions, safety and project management.
Knowledge of the methods required to carry out research. The ability to plan and conduct experiments related to building materials, structures, building technology for buildings. Ability to process data and formulate
