Civil and Environmental Engineering, BS

Course Information

Students who graduate with a BS degree in engineering:

  1. can apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering to solve problems in their professional field
  2. can plan and carry out experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data and information in a critical manner
  3. can analyze and design systems, components , or processes to meet needs within realistic constraints including those based on  ethical, social, economic, health, safety, environmental, manufacturability and aesthetic values
  4. can operate in multidisciplinary teams and lead task groups
  5. can identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems or issues in a professional manner as an individual or as part of a group
  6. have an understanding of professional and ethical responsibility, sustainable development, and interaction of different cultures
  7. can communicate effectively in a logical manner
  8. understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental and societal context    
  9. have an understanding of the need to maintain and renew knowledge, skills and competence and have acquired practices for life-long learning
  10. have knowledge of contemporary issues
  11. can use techniques, skills and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice
  12. can carry out a discerning information search
  13. have acquired independence, organized procedures, open-mindedness, creative and critical thinking

    Students who graduate with a BS degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering:

  14. have acquired general knowledge within the field of civil and environmental engineering, including mechanics of solid materials, mechanics of structures, mass transfer, pollution control, waste management, global warming, materials science, hydrology,  soil mechanics and foundations,  fluid dynamics, transportation engineering, , planning theory, cost assessment, project management, building construction technology, safety and health, and information technology
