Qualification Information

Learning outcomes in general study subjects are determined through the main objectives and tasks of basic education programmes outlined in the state basic education standard. For more information, see the Cabinet of Ministers Regulations No. 468 “Regulations on the state basic education standard, standards of basic education study subjects and samples of basic education programmes” (adopted on 12.08.2014). 

Learning outcomes in professional study subjects are formulated in accordance with the relevant occupational standard: see standards



Competences:

1. The KNOWLEDGE at the level of notion:
1.1. basic physics;
1.2. glues and binding technology;
1.3. finishing materials and technologies;
1.4. usage of a computer.
2. The KNOWLEDGE at the level of understanding:
2.1. materials science;
2.2. woodworking technology;
2.3. lumber and board materials;
2.4. reading of simple drawings and technical measuring;
2.5. woodworking machines and cutting tools;
2.6. units of measurement (length, width, weight. t. etc.);
2.7. simple woodworking related terms, symbols in the official language and in one foreign language.
3. The KNOWLEDGE at the level of use:
3.1. macroscopic structure of wood and bole cuts;
3.2. defects of the wood;
3.3. lumber;
3.4. board materials;
3.5. the simplest glue and finishing materials;
3.6. basic wood treatment;
3.7. woodworking machines and instruments;
3.8. wood treatment tools;
3.9. woodworking technology;
3.10. glues and the simplest gluing methods;
3.11. wood protection materials and protection technology;
3.12. constructions of simple wood-based products;
3.13. carrying out elementary mathematical calculations (calculating surface, capacity, quantity);
3.14. understanding elementary physics (movement, resistance, electricity);
3.15. official language;
3.16. work protection;
3.17. legal employment relationship;
3.18. environmental protection;
3.19. interaction.



Skills:

1. To understand the drawings of simple construction wood-based and derived timber products.
2. To distinguish timber and tree species used in production.
3. To assess the quality of wood and wood-based materials by visual inspection.
4. To make wood joints and simple wood-based products (laths, floorboards, benches etc.).
5. To work and take care of hand tools and simple hand-held power tools.
6. To distinguish the main machine tools of woodworking position type.
7. To carry out the ancillary tasks of mechanical treatment of wood with machine tools (tilting arbor saws; band saw machines; bed-type millers; bench grinders etc.).
8. To carry out works involving maintenance and cleaning of machine tools and equipment
9. To carry out mechanical treatment of wood with implements and simple hand-held power tools.
10. To organize the working space and carry out the works according to requirements of work protection, electrical safety and fire protection.
11. To be able to use the official language.
12. To use the professional terminology in the official language and in one foreign language.
