Learning outcomes are formulated in accordance with the relevant occupational standard: Occupational standards register



Competences:

1. Necessary knowledge at the level of notion to accomplish basic tasks of professional action:
1.1. reasons of social isolation; consequences and possible solutions in the society;
1.2. EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the European Social Charter;
1.3.basic principles of the state social policy making and implementation;
1.4. public administration and local government operation principles;
1.5. general human rights;
1.6. probation system in Latvia;
1.7. health care system in Latvia;
1.8. education system in Latvia;
1.9. basics of law and the legal system in Latvia;
1.10. employment regulations.
2. Necessary knowledge at the level of understanding to accomplish basic tasks:
2.1. social services and social assistance in Latvia;
2.2. basics of psychology of communication;
2.3. the process of socialisation and individualisation;
2.4. specific needs of persons with hearing impairment and their social problems, impact of social and environmental factors.
2.5. accessibility of environmental considerations;
2.6. volunteering;
2.7. specific needs of persons with disabilities depending on the type of disability;
2.8. religion and its role in life of persons with hearing impairment.
2.9. types and problems of addictions co-addictions,;
2.10. cultural environment, lifestyle, customs, values and stereotypes of persons with hearing impairments;
2.11. violence, its types, symptoms, violence-causing factors;
2.12. regulations and requirements of employment;
2.13. rights of persons with disability in Latvia;
2.14. basic psychiatry;
2.15. human anatomy and physiology;
2.16. professional terminology in the official language and in one foreign language.
3. Necessary knowledge at the level of use to accomplish basic tasks:
3.1. communication skills;
3.2. sign language;
3.3. professional values, attitude and ethical principles;
3.4. ICT (Information Communication Technologies);
3.5. principles of team work;
3.6. social rehabilitation principles;
3.7. nursing principles;
3.8. first aid;
3.9. self defence mechanism in stress and crisis situations;
3.10. technical aids;
3.11. work safety;
3.12. official language;
3.13. one foreign language at communication level;
3.14. environment protection.



Skills:

1. Facilitate interaction with social environment of a person with hearing impairments, giving advice on interpersonal support system’s improvement.
2. Attract and use resources for person with hearing impairments.
3. Build professional and psycho-emotional contact with a person with hearing impairments and with support persons for persons with hearing impairments.
4. Identify and assess the environment for the persons with hearing impairments.
5. Implement actions that reduce the hearing loss impact on social communication abilities.
6. To know the official language.
7. To know one foreign language, by using sign language.
8. Ability to use professional terminology in official language and in one foreign language.
9. Comply with work safety and environmental rules and requirements.



Knowledge:
