The mail goal of the undergraduate degree in Biochemistry is to prepare professionals with a strong background in the fundamental areas of this science. These include the structure and function of biomolecules, cell and organism physiology and molecular biology and genetics. At the end of this degree, the graduates will have a basic multidisciplinary education that will provide access to a wide range of Masters degree courses, where they will gain new competencies and more specific and advanced knowledge that complement their initial education.

UMinho is a central actor in the region, an important reference for the country and a recognized partner at a European and global level. Located in the north of Portugal, the University has a campus in the city of Braga and another in the city of Guimarães. The University's organizational structure is flexible and conducive to innovation and interdisciplinary, favoring the exploration of emerging research areas.

School of Sciences is located on the campuses of Gualtar and Azurém, where it carries out its activities of teaching, research and interaction with society.

Have completed one of the following university entrance exams (central exams prepared by the Ministry of Education and Science): Biology and Geology; or Physics and Chemistry; or Biology and Geology, and Mathematics

Admission Procedure: 

Applications are done through the national admission contest (concurso nacional de acesso) organized by the Directorate General of Higher Education (DGES), or through special higher education contests. For more informations please check DGES website (in portuguese).
