Qualification Information

Candidates will be able to:

  • prepare themselves for the work of a ballet dancer,
  • communicate with ballet dancers, co-workers and other professionals in the ballet field,
  • ensure the quality of own work and carry out self-evaluation,
  • protect health and the environment and ensure safety at work,
  • use modern information and communication Technologies,
  • appear in public as a ballet dancer,
  • express themselves through dance and acting,
  • dance and participate in preparation of productions and stagings,
  • study and contribute to the creation of roles,
  • use French technical terminology,
  • carry out exercises to maintain dance skills and knowledge and rehearse for appearances in productions,
  • ensure harmonious physical and mental development and professional development.

Providers of procedures for identifying and validating national vocational qualifications are entered in a register of providers maintained in the relevant database of the National Reference Point for Occupational Qualifications. Providers include: vocational schools, companies, inter-company training centres, adult education centres, chambers of commerce, etc. There are currently no providers in the database for this qualification.

VALIDATION

During the counselling process, the candidate prepares a portfolio. The relevant committee assesses the portfolio and validates catalogue content in part or full. If the committee is unable to validate all catalogue content, it assigns tasks to the candidate for verification. 

VERIFICATION METHOD

Practical verification with an oral presentation or viewing of a ballet production in which the candidate is currently dancing, with an oral presentation.

Candidates demonstrate attainment of the knowledge, skills and competences defined in the catalogue of standards of vocational knowledge and skills.

  • At least a secondary school qualification and
  • at least three years' work experience as a ballet dancer or proof of participation as a dancer in six different ballet productions.
