Qualification Information

Following the completion of their studies, the learners (a) will have acquired and assimilated the theoretical and practical information related to the operation of the natural ecosystems and shall be capable of analytically explaining the principles concerning the Management of Forests and of the Natural Environment (KNOWLEDGE), (b) shall be able to analyse, estimate and delve into, expand and increase such knowledge and be aware of the evolutionary dynamic of the cognitive fields of Forestry (SKILLS), c) shall be able to design, organize, and apply the knowledge and skills acquired on practical issues concerning the implementation of the principles of Forestry and Management of the Natural Environment, both in the Private and in the Public Sector (COMPETENCES). The learner, following the completion of the educational procedure shall be aware of, understand, and shall be capable of implementing techniques for the construction of forestry technical projects, make use of Information Technology and Geographical Information Systems, apply the principles of ecology, management, and protection of the natural environment, and organize the production, management and utilization of forest resources.

Upon completing their studies, the graduates of the Department of Forestry and Management of Natural Environment acquire the necessary scientific and technological knowledge, competences, and skills, in order to work as Foresters and Managers of the Natural Environment, in the following sectors:
a) Preparation of all types of forestall and environmental studies, regarding the management and protection of the terrestrial natural ecosystems, b) Management, protection, organization, and operation of the following: forest ecosystems, protected natural regions, urban, suburban green, forest nurseries, mountain pastures, ecotourism facilities, etc. c) Design, construction, and maintenance of forest roadworks and hydrotechnical projects. d) Development and application of methods for the improvement and increase of wood production, harvest, the proper use of wood, etc. e) Application of methods for treating and recovering undermines terrestrial natural ecosystems and for the assessment of environmental impacts. f) Creation and application of programmes of registration and mapping of natural resources, and of monitoring of terrestrial natural ecosystems with the use of Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
