The National Qualifications Registry of Greece is a special software application (Database) that will include the qualifications classified in the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and referenced to the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).
Upon completion of the study programme, the student possesses:
1. Knowledge of communication methods and their social implications, and familiarity with the relevant new technologies.
2. Technical background knowledge regarding the modern technologies that are behind the media.
3. The ability to produce analytical studies, design and implement modern products and services related to social media, the Internet and new media, in general.
4. The ability and tendency to follow developments in digital media and adapt globalized nature applications at local or national level.
5. The required background in economic and administrative knowledge to enhance his/her capacity to deal with advertising and marketing.
6. Ability of critical analysis of any kind of applied forms of communication and their resulting consequences.
7. Communication competences in written and oral.

The Department of Digital Media and Communication occupies an important position in the field of the Technological Educational Institutes and, more generally, in the area of higher education in Greece. This position results on the one hand from the innovation of the study subject, on the other hand from its exclusivity nationwide.
Digital Media and Communication represent a growing part of the means of expression, entrepreneurship, but also of everyday life. The object of Digital Media and Communication includes all theories, methods, techniques and tools that govern and treat a wide range of media, ranging from information to entertainment and the arts, focusing on the trend towards their digital form, social networking and the Internet.
In the labour market, there is a shortage of graduates who have this combination of knowledge and skills which will allow them to engage in this professional area, which extends from the media to the advertising, tourism and cultural management, and freelance web expertise.
The approach of these media has in fact a social, cultural, aesthetic and, of course, technological aspect, thereby providing the methodological practice with an inclusive dimension. We thus aim to create an educational environment which promotes interdisciplinary understanding of Digital Media and Communication and the investigation of this scientific field in a constantly updating way in order to follow the developments of theory and practice in the now globalized world of affairs. To this end, the Department, since its establishment until today, is based on the interdisciplinary character of its field. Graduates of the Department can be employed either as employees or as self-employed in the following labour market sectors: (a) communication-PR-event management, (b) advertising, (c) mass media (electronic and print), (d) audio-visual media production, (e) web expertise (incl. social media, mobile), (f) tourist-cultural management.
Access to this type of qualification have those who have completed at least the secondary education (level 4).
Holders of such qualifications gain access to study programmes at the same level or at level 7 or 8.
Qualifications of this type are acquired via formal education.
