Qualification Information

At the conclusion of the diploma program, the student shall have achieved the following benchmarks, in addition to those acquired at the previous level of study:

1. Knowledge and Understanding

1.1 The student has broadened and deepened his/her knowledge of a specialized  research in the field of addiction and substance abuse and has a systematic understanding of the most recent knowledge in the field, including the research methods applied in it.

1.2 The student has gained a deeper knowledge of the practical uses of work in the field of addiction and substance abuse.

1.3 The student is familiar with the main academic work and theories useful in his/her area of expertise.

1.4 The student can utilize his/her knowledge and understanding in professional work in his/her field.

2. Practical Skills and Ability

2.1 The student can describe and explain the presumptions and limits of the main methods in the field of addiction and substance abuse.

2.2 The student has knowledge of the use of qualitative and quantitative methods used in research in the field of addiction andsubstance abuse.

2.3 The student can work in a team with others and contribute to the organization and implementation research in the field of addiction and substance abuse.

2.4 The student has the ability to publish in writing an overview of research related to his/her field of research.

3. Theoretical Ability

3.1 The student can define and describe what good organization entails.

3.2 The student has acquired an additional and deeper understanding of his/her area of concentration than what the first level entailed.

4. Communication Skills and Information Literacy

4.1 The student can organize his/her work and working hours and work according to plans, work professionally with superiors and colleagues, organize his/her career, and realize opportunities for employment and research.

4.2 The student demonstrates skill in using information technology, including the use of databases, and statistical packages, and can utilize information on the internet and elsewhere.

5. General Learning Skills

5.1 The student has developed the necessary learning skills and independent work methods to be able to continue his/her academic studies, maintain his/her knowledge and add to it.
