The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) is a translation tool that helps communication and comparison between qualifications systems in Europe. Its eight common European reference levels are described in terms of learning outcomes: knowledge, skills and competences. This allows any national qualifications systems, national qualifications frameworks (NQFs) and qualifications in Europe to relate to the EQF levels. Learners, graduates, providers and employers can use these levels to understand and compare qualifications awarded in different countries and by different education and training systems.

    The Programme provides critical approaches to culture and follows historic transformations over time, aiming to provide knowledge about the far neighbours of Greece with regard to the institutions and social organization, and mainly the actions, the memories, and the experiences of individuals in their everyday life.  The programme aims to establish an academic paradigm of extroversion on issues of teaching and research for the regions of East Europe, of the Balkans, and of the Mediterranean.  This includes networking - collaborations - exchanges with Universities of the Central and Southeast Europe: Graz (Austria), Cluj (Romania), Novi Sad (Serbia), Sofia (Bulgaria), Zagreb (Croatia), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Regensburg (Germany).     The programme aims to the following: (a) the preparation of future executives for the public or private sector, for NGOs and international organisations active in the East and Southeastern Europe, (b) the continuous education and specialisation of already working executives, and (c) the proper preparation of students interested in furthering their studies to acquire a doctorate diploma.     Knowledge: The doctoral dissertation in the Department leads to the acquisition of high level knowledge for a specific scientific domain the sciences of social anthropology and history, as well as the development of skills for the application of scientific methodology and the conduct of original research. The Doctoral Diploma programme includes the procedures for the selection of the candidate doctors, the preparation of a research proposal, and the final conduct of the doctorate dissertation on social anthropology and history. The candidate doctor conducts autonomous research under the supervision of a member of the Department's faculty and the supervision of other two members of the faculty. In order to award the Doctorate diploma, it is necessary to submit and successfully defend its preparation before a seven-member examination board. The time for the conduct of the doctoral dissertation is provided in the bylaws of the institution.
