The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) is a translation tool that helps communication and comparison between qualifications systems in Europe. Its eight common European reference levels are described in terms of learning outcomes: knowledge, skills and competences. This allows any national qualifications systems, national qualifications frameworks (NQFs) and qualifications in Europe to relate to the EQF levels. Learners, graduates, providers and employers can use these levels to understand and compare qualifications awarded in different countries and by different education and training systems.

Tema peamine tööülesanne on konstrueerida lõiked ja lekaalid vastavalt moejoonisele, tüüpmõõtude tabelile või kliendi mõõtudele, mille järgi lõigatakse ja õmmeldakse valmis toode. Konstruktor-modelleerija paljundab lekaale tehniliselt ning vajadusel töötab välja mudeli tehnilise kirjelduse. Lõigete ja lekaalide valmistamisel peab ta oskama arvestada materjalide omaduste, töötlemistehnoloogia ja seadmete võimalustega. Konstruktor-modelleerija tunneb toote valmistamise protsessi tervikuna, valdab õmblemise tehnoloogiaid ning oskab kasutada töövahendeid, seadmeid ja masinaid.     Õmblustehnoloog töötab tekstiili-, rõiva- ja nahktoodete tootmisega tegelevas ettevõttes või muus õmblemisega tegelevas ettevõttes. Tema põhitöö on tootmise efektiivne korraldamine ning vastutamine etteantud ülesannete kvaliteetse ja tähtajalise täitmise eest.
