Die Pferdewissenschaften beschäftigen sich intensiv mit Aspekten der Pferdewirtschaft, dem Pferdesport, der Zucht und dem Gestütswesen. Das Bachelorstudium Pferdewissenschaften wird von der Veterinärmedizinischen Universität Wien und der Universität für Bodenkultur gemeinsam durchgeführt. Im ersten Jahr ist eine vierwöchige Praxis, im vierten Semester eine zwölfwöchige Praxis, in einem pferdehaltenden Betrieb abzulegen. Im Rahmen der Praktika sollen die Studierenden unter Anleitung in Betrieben oder Einrichtungen der Pferdewirtschaft tätig werden und dabei vor allem Einblicke in Organisation und Management gewinnen. Nach Absolvieren der Pflichtlehrveranstaltungen und zugehörigen Prüfungen sowie der vorgeschriebenen Praktika und der positiven Beurteilung der Bachelorarbeit gilt das Studium als abgeschlossen. ...

Eläinlääketieteen kandidaatin ja lisensiaatin opinnot muodostavat jatkumon, jonka sisältöjä ja toteutusta ohjaavat kansallisten säädösten lisäksi EU-direktiivit ja alan kansainväliset linjaukset. EU-direktiivien ja eurooppalaisten linjausten toteutumista valvoo European System of Evaluation of Veterinary Training, joka muutaman vuoden välein arvioi koulutuksen sisällön, toteutuksen ja laadunvarmistuksen. Opintojen alkuvaiheessa opiskelijalle hahmottuu kokonaiskuva terveen elimistön rakenteesta, elintoiminnoista ja kehityksestä – molekyyli- ja geenitasolta kotieläinten pitoon, tuotantoympäristöön ja hyvinvointiin edeten. Perehtyminen taudinaiheuttajiin, niiden aiheuttamiin muutoksiin elimistössä ja leviämisen estämiseen antaa pohjan ymmärtää sekä sairauksia että elintarvikkeisiin liittyviä turvallisuusriskejä. Johdantojaksot kliiniseen eläinlääketieteeseen antavat valmiuksia tulevaan potilastyöhön. Opinnot etenevät valmiin lukujärjestyksen mukaisesti, mutta edellyttävät opiskelijalta omaa vastuunottoa, ajanhallintataitoja ja sitoutumista. Opinnoissa on paljon läsnäoloa vaativia osioita.
