EU replaces COVID-19 vaccines export authorisation mechanism with new monitoring tool
|
The EU will not extend the COVID-19 vaccines export transparency and authorisation mechanism, which expires on 31 December 2021. This means that, as of 1 January 2022, vaccine producers will no longer have to request an authorisation for the export of vaccines outside the EU. However, the transparency of exports will continue to be ensured through a new monitoring mechanism.

Joint statement of the ministers of US, Japan and EU on trilateral cooperation
|
Last Tuesday an online meeting between the United States Trade Representative, the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan and the Executive Vice President of the European Commission was celebrated. The Ministers agreed to renew their Trilateral partnership to address the global challenges posed by non-market policies and practices of third countries that undermine and negatively affect our workers and businesses. They also highlighted the importance of the WTO reform.

2021 Export Control Forum: Registration open
|
The European Commission and the Slovenian Presidency of the Council are inviting representatives from EU Member States and the European Parliament, industry, academia and civil society to participate in the 2021 Export Control Forum. The Forum will provide an opportunity to discuss the recent export control developments in the EU and globally, including the initial steps for the implementation of the new dual-use regulation, in force as of 9 September 2021. Registration open until the 3rd of December.

EU stakeholders outreach on the Trade and Technology Council Working Group on Secure Supply Chains
|
Following the EU-US Trade and Technology Council (TTC) in Pittsburgh, a Working Group was set up in order to work together on expanding resilient and sustainable supply chains. In this context, in order to allow for a targeted discussion on the scope and objectives of this TTC Working Group, the EU invites stakeholders to participate in a dedicated outreach event on 13 December 2021. The registration closes on 9 December 2021.

Civil Society Dialogue meeting with Sabine Weyand on trade policy (including WTO 12th Ministerial Conference update) - Change of date
|
Attention! Due to the postponement of MC12 this meeting has been postponed too. Those who had registered for the 15/12 do not need to re-register for the new date. In this Civil Society Dialogue, Sabine Weyand, Director-General for Trade, will present the latest developments on EU trade policy priorities, what have been the main achievements and challenges and share her assessment of what to expect in the months ahead, including with respect to the WTO agenda.
