EU-Singapore agreement to enter into force on 21 November 2019
|
Today, 8 November 2019, the Council endorsed the trade agreement between the EU and Singapore. This means the agreement will enter into force as soon as 21 November. Under the trade agreement, Singapore will remove all remaining tariffs on EU products. The agreement also provides new opportunities for EU services' providers, among others in sectors such as telecommunications, environmental services, engineering, computing and maritime transport.

The 2nd EU-Canada (CETA) Civil Society Forum
|
On 12 November 2019, the 2nd EU-Canada Civil Society Forum under the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) will take place in Ottawa, Canada. Participants will have the chance to exchange with one another, as well as with officials from the European Commission and from the Government of Canada, on matters related to the implementation of CETA's Trade and Sustainable Development, Trade and Labour, as well as Trade and Environment Chapters. Civil Society Dialogue on the implementation of EU Trade Agreements
|
On 21 November 2019, the European Commission will hold a Civil Society Dialogue on the implementation of EU Trade Agreements. The purpose of this meeting is to present and discuss the third Report on the Implementation of EU Trade Agreements, adopted by the Commission on 14 October 2019. These reports are meant to increase awareness and transparency on how the Commission implements free trade agreements. It should enable the other EU institutions, EU Member States, civil society, business and everyone with a stake in EU trade policy to engage and debate how the EU is applying its free trade agreements. Kindly note that registration closes on 18 November 2019, at midday.

Civil Society Dialogue on WTO negotiations on e-commerce
|
On 5 December 2019, the European Commission is hosting a Civil Society Dialogue on WTO negotiations on e-commerce. The purpose of the meeting is to debrief civil society organisations on the ongoing WTO e-commerce negotiations and to exchange with civil society on the EU's objectives, as well as challenges faced in the negotiations. Kindly note that registration closes on 2 December 2019, at midday.

Civil Society Dialogue on Trade Defence Instruments and Rights of Defence in Trade Proceedings
|
On 9 December 2019, the European Commission will host a Civil Society Dialogue on Trade Defence Instruments and Rights of Defence in trade proceedings. During the meeting, the European Commission will give an overview on the current state of play in the field of the Trade Defence Instruments, following two major legislative reforms in 2017 and 2018. The aim is to explain how the new legislation has strengthened EU trade defence, as well as to have an exchange of views with civil society on their experience of the new rules. Additionally, the Hearing Officer will present her role and activities, including how parties to a proceeding can request her intervention. Civil society will therefore also have an opportunity to exchange views and discuss their experience with the Hearing Officer.

International Public Procurement Initiative final event
|
On 13 November 2019, the European Commission is hosting the International Public Procurement Initiative (IPPI) final event. The aim of the event is to present the International Public Procurement Initiative project and its main results, as well as to share innovative insights on new perspectives on international public procurement data openness and transparency. It will provide the opportunity to bring together participants from different countries, including public officials, representatives from international organisations, public procurement practitioners, businesses and experts. 2019 Export Control Forum
|
On 13 December 2019, the European Commission and the Finnish Presidency of the Council are welcoming representatives from EU Member States, the European Parliament, industry and civil society to participate in the 2019 Export Control Forum. The 2019 Export Control Forum will provide an opportunity to review ongoing export control implementation and latest developments in the EU, as well as to discuss the future of EU and global international export controls. Kindly note that the deadline for registration is 1 December 2019.
