77% of suicides in the EU were by men
|
Around 48 700 people in the EU died as a result of intentional self-harm in 2016, which is 1% of all deaths reported that year. Almost 8 in 10 of these suicides (77%) were among men. On average, there were almost 11 suicide deaths per 100 000 inhabitants in the EU in 2016.

Call for data for the International Diabetes Federation’s Diabetes Atlas 10th edition

The International Diabetes Federation is looking for new data sources of diabetes prevalence to include in the IDF Diabetes Atlas 10th Edition to be published in 2021. Data sources that would help to improve the estimates can be submitted until 31 December 2020.

Coronavirus global response: EU Humanitarian Air Bridge to Peru and €30.5 million for Latin America and the Caribbean
|
An EU Humanitarian Air Bridge operation consisting of three flights to Lima, Peru delivered a total of more than 4 tonnes of life-saving materials to humanitarian organisations active in the country. At the same time, the EU announced €30.5 million in humanitarian assistance to support the most vulnerable in Latin America and the Caribbean in 2020.

Public consultation and hearing on the preliminary Opinion on the safety of breast implants in relation to anaplastic large cell lymphoma
|
The public consultation on the preliminary Opinion by the Scientific Committee on Health, Environmental and Emerging Risks will be open from 26 October to 7 December 2020. The hearing takes place on 16 November. Those who wish to participate should register by 16 October.
