European Commission publishes its evaluation of the medicines for rare diseases and children legislation
|
This is the first comprehensive evaluation of the two regulations (for medicines for rare diseases and for children) since their adoption in 2000 and 2006 respectively. They are evaluated together, given that most rare diseases may appear already in children and many children’s diseases are also rare.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month
|
More than 20,000 children are diagnosed with cancer across Europe each year and that 6,000 youngsters lose their lives. The Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan will address paediatric cancer in its proposals later this year.

European Journal of Public Health: August 2020 edition
|
Volume 30, Issue 4 focuses on health inequalities in light of COVID-19 and includes a systematic review of the major non-communicable diseases in the EU and their financial burden, underlining the need to boost health promotion and disease prevention to make health systems more sustainable.
