Joint Action on Networks of Expertise on Cancer launched

date:  29/01/2025

Today, the second Joint Action of the EU Networks of Expertise on Cancer (JANE-2) has been launched. This is one of the largest Joint Actions on cancer, supported by EUR 40.5 million in funding from the EU4Health programme. JANE-2 has 121 partners from 29 European countries and is coordinated by Italy.

The objective of the Joint Action is to establish seven Networks of Expertise on cancer in the EU, implementing the recommendations of the 2021 Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan. The Networks bring together the highest expertise with the view of improving EU cooperation in the fight against cancer.

The Networks will focus on complex and poor-prognosis cancers, palliative cancer care, survivorship, personalised primary and secondary prevention, omics technologies, hi-tech medical resources, adolescents and young adult patients with tumours.

The Networks of Expertise will provide services to the whole European oncology community, putting patients at the centre. These include clinical practice guidelines and recommendations, quality of care criteria, educational support and research promotion and support to patient advocates.
