Guide for the donation of surplus food in the Basque Country: a step of solidarity against food waste

ELIKA, the Basque Foundation for Agro-Food Safety, has coordinated the drafting of the ‘Guide for the donation of surplus food in the Basque Country’ (available in ES and EUS).

This guide has been conceived as a tool to facilitate food donation by operators of the food supply chain (from primary production to retail companies), who wish to safely donate surplus food.

The Health Department of the autonomous government, the health services of the three Basque capitals and companies of the food sector have participated in the development of the Guide.

This action is included in the framework of the Basque Strategy against food waste.
