Boosting solutions to cross-border obstacles

B-solutions pilot actions
With the new call for b-solutions’ pilot actions, competent actors are supported in implementing solutions that could help institutions work better across borders, enable enterprises to hire staff from the other side of the border more easily, or allow entities manage natural resources under a unique, cross-border framework.
Public bodies and cross-border structures with the authority to advance the implementation of a solution for a previous b-solutions’ case are invited to follow up on the advice previously given by experts and build on this knowledge to finally overcome the hurdle.
To advance the implementation, the selected beneficiaries receive a sub-grant of up to €30,000 to fund the necessary activities that will ultimately help them achieve solid agreement with the relevant actors competent for the adoption of the solution.
The document of the call for b-solutions’ pilot actions, helpful information in the form of FAQs and the application form are accessible here: https://www.b-solutionsproject.com/pilot-actions.
The call for pilot action is open until 28 April 2025 at 18:00 CEST, and the selected pilot actions will be implemented from 16 June 2025 until 15 June 2026.
The Association of European Border Regions (AEBR), the organisation in charge of the b-solutions project, can provide support in case of questions.
Beneficiaries will benefit from improved collaboration with competent authorities and attain strong consensus for the proposed solution among relevant entities. With b-solutions’ pilot actions, solutions can finally be activated and their tangible, durable, and effective outcomes will improve life in border regions.
Information session:
Under the initiative b-solutions 3.0: Solving Border Obstacles to Facilitate Cooperation (October 2024 – December 2026), the European Commission’s DG REGIO and the Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) continue to offer assistance to public bodies and cross-border structures along land and maritime borders between EU-EU, EU-IPA, EU-EFTA countries.
This support consists of legal analyses delivered by experts who will identify solutions to the legal and administrative obstacles you face in border regions, whether related to the mobility of cross-border workers, the sharing of common resources, or the development of cross-border public services.
The b-solutions team organises an online information session on Thursday 20 March, from 11:00 to 12:00 CET. This session will cover the most important aspects of the b-solutions initiative, how to submit a border obstacle, and the benefits of participating.
