EU Cohesion Policy: €125 million for the construction of the D1 Motorway in the Hubová – Ivachnová section in Slovakia

Today, the European Commission has approved an investment of €125 million from the Cohesion Fund for the construction of a section of the D1 motorway between Hubová and Ivachnová in Slovakia.

The total length of the section will be 14.9 km. The project constitutes the second phase of the investment construction which first phase has been completed within 2007-2013 programming period. The entire investment is a part of the technical solution for the extension of the D1 Motorway from Hubová, where the Hubová interchange is designed, through the Čebrať tunnel, up to the D1 Ivachnová - Hybe section in operation. The project is located in central Slovakia in the Žilina region. The D1 Motorway will replace and supplement the current 1st class road I/18.

The project significantly contributes to the fulfilment of the vision of "modern, high-quality, safe and efficiently functioning transport infrastructure", especially in the corridors of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The vision has been defined in the Strategic Transport Infrastructure Development Plan of the Slovak Republic until 2030.
