Commissioner Ferreira in Italy to visit Cohesion funded projects and sites

Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms Elisa Ferreira will travel to Italy from 4 to 6 October.

On 4 October, the Commissioner will visit, together with the Italian Minister for Culture Sangiuliano, the Pompeii archaeological site to mark the end of successful implementation of the “Grande Progetto Pompei” (the Pompeii Major Project), which received EUR 78 million from the European Regional Development Fund. A press point will be held. Later that day, she will meet the President of the Campania region, Vincenzo De Luca.

On 5 October, the Commissioner will be in Palermo, Sicily, where she will visit some projects funded by the Cohesion funds: the Institute for Transplantation and Advanced Specialized Therapies, and the new ring railway site at the Politeama station. She will meet with the Mayor of Palermo Roberto Lagalla and the President of the Region, Renato Schifani.

On 6 October, Commissioner Ferreira will be in Taranto, Apulia, where she will participate in a stakeholder’s dialogue on the Just Transition Fund (JTF) that is now fostering local economic diversification and the creation of jobs in the green sectors. She will also meet with Michele Emiliano, President of the Apulia Region and Rinaldo Melucci, Mayor of Taranto with whom she will visit the areas where the JTF will intervene.
