The New European Bauhaus Prizes are back! - Applications are open

Applications are now open for the fourth edition of the New European Bauhaus Prizes.

The Prizes 2024 will award 20 exemplary innovative projects and ideas that represent sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusiveness. The winners will receive a prize money of up to €30 000, and a communication package to help them further develop and promote their projects and concepts. They will be announced during the New European Bauhaus Festival, taking place in Brussels from the 17th to the 21st of April, at an official awards ceremony hosted by the Commission. The festival will bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds, in a variety of workshops, activities, and satellite events to discuss and shape our future.

Since 2021, the New European Bauhaus Prizes celebrate and give visibility to existing projects, as well as concepts developed by young and promising talents fostering sustainability, inclusivity, and beauty. With over 4,500 applications and 52 winners in three editions (2021, 2022, 2023), the Prizes are a testament to the remarkable dedication of individuals and organisations to the New European Bauhaus initiative.

What is new in this edition?

For the first time this year, we will welcome applications of projects and ideas in Ukraine in addition to EU Member States and the Western Balkans. The 'Special Recognition to Ukraine’s Reconstruction and Recovery Effort' prizes will recognise projects and concepts contributing to Ukraine's reconstruction and recovery in line with the New European Bauhaus values. Another novelty this year is the focus on projects and ideas from EU’s most challenged regions, specifically regions facing socio-economic difficulties, and places struggling to evolve to a carbon-neutral economy.

How and when to apply?

Applications are open until 10 November 2023 at 19:00 CET. Applicants of all nationalities and backgrounds are eligible if their concepts and projects are implemented in the EU, the Western Balkans or Ukraine. The applications should be submitted through the official NEB prizes platform.

All the details regarding the application process are included in the guide to applicants, available in all EU and Western Balkans languages.
