Cohesion Policy: First project in the Netherlands supported by the Just Transition Fund has been approved

A start up in the Groot-Rijnmond region, “Concr3de”, will receive support from the Just Transition Fund to develop concrete printers which will convert waste streams from the demolition of buildings in new building material.

Thanks to this technology, 80% less CO2 will be emitted compared to traditional processes. The Just Transition Fund will support the so-called “Mamooth” project with almost  € 750.000. In addition, the company is offering education and training, including language courses,  to people with difficulties to integrate into the labour market. Education and training are provided in cooperation with ‘techniekcollege’ Rotterdam. Recently the company has taken on a number of Ukrainian refugees.

The JTF supports territories that are particularly affected by the transition towards a climate-neutral economy. The Territorial Just Transition Plans (TJTPs) identify these territories with the Commission during the negotiations of the 2021-2027 Partnership Agreements and the associated programmes. The Commission approved the Partnership Agreement with the Netherlands in June 2022. In the Netherlands the JTF is supporting six regions - Groningen and Emmen, IJmond, Groot-Rijnmond, Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, West-Noord-Brabant and Zuid-Limburg – helping them move away from an economy centred on fossil-fuel extraction or carbon-intensive industries.
