Commissioner Ferreira in Réunion for the celebrations of the 40 years of the Region

From 28 April to 1 May, Elisa Ferreira, Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, will be in the French outermost region of la Réunion, on invitation of the president of the region, to participate in the official celebrations of the 40 years of the first regional elections.

For the 2021-2027 programming period, la Reunion will receive almost €3 billion in the areas of cohesion, social policy, agriculture and fisheries.

During her mission, Commissioner Ferreira will meet several entities including the President of Réunion region, Huguette Bello, the French minister for Territorial Collectivities Dominique Faure, the Madagascar Foreign Minister Yvette Sylla; the Chairman of the REGI Committee of the European Parliament Younous Omarjee, the President of the Association Régions de France Carole Delga, the vice-President of the  Guadeloupe Region Marie-Luce Penchard and the Member of the European Parliament Stéphane Bijoux.

She will visit, among others, some of the most emblematic projects supported by Cohesion funds: the Roland Garros airport, the expansion of the Grand Port Maritime, the road ‘Nouvelle Route du Littoral’, and research facilities in Saint-Pierre funded by the Indian Ocean Interreg programme.
