This is the fifth time the European Commission publishes the EU Regional Competitiveness Index, a composite indicator aiming at measuring the ability of a region to offer an attractive environment for firms and residents to live and work. Since its first edition, back in 2010, the RCI has grown into a much-cited and widely used index. Given the high interest in the index, the publication of the report will be accompanied by a set of interactive online tools.

Ms Elisa Ferreira, European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, will open the event, followed by the presentation of the index by the European Commission – DG for Regional and Urban Policy. A panel session will follow, offering a lively debate on the relevance of the index for regional and urban policymaking.
The event will start at 14:00, hosted by the Committee of the Regions (CoR), and will be live-streamed, with the connection link to be posted on the website of the Committee of the Regions shortly.
